Peter Townend was social editor of the Tatler and editor of Burke's Peerage. After debutantes ceased being presented at court in 1958, he was responsible for keeping the "Debs season" going for another 40 years. He died in 2001 and we found a collection of letters addressed to him in an auction lot of ephemera in Cardiff.

Most of the writers were from the peerage and it is fascinating to research how they have prospered, or otherwise!

Have a peep into the world of privilege!

For those of you who are gifted at researching and problem solving, here is a new department devoted to letters and autographs that we have not been able to identify.

And to make it more interesting these are available to purchase at a fraction of usual price.

Can you succeed where we have failed?
