This is an original photo from the D.W.S. Evans collection, who had an interesting career. Mr Evans lived in Stanwell Road, Penarth in the late 1960s. He was presumably born circa 1920, had scouting links and we have photos of him in the 1930s and 1940s at scout camps and a photo of him as flag holder in 1939 for 25th Cardiff troop. He appears to have gone to Nottingham University, but at one stage he played an extra in a WWII Chetnik Resistance propaganda film (Undercover, 1943) when he was wounded by a bayonet! After the war he was employed by Boots in Nottingham, although he was also a Civil Defence Scientific Intelligence Officer and attended the Home Office Civil Defence School at Easingwold in 1959. In later life he was a mason. He was married in 1951 (to Audrey) and had two children (Philip and Robert). The last photos in the album are dated 1968.
